Christian Girl Math
(a.k.a. How I Accidentally Turned My Faith Into a Spreadsheet)
☁️ The First Fluff
You ever get spiritually guilt-tripped when you’re already at your lowest?
“Maybe it’s because you didn’t pray enough.”
“Maybe you haven’t released it to God.”
“Maybe if you tithed more…”
😐 Excuse me?
Suddenly, God goes from loving Father to cosmic vending machine. And I’m standing there emotionally dehydrated, pressing the right combo of spiritual buttons hoping a blessing drops.
That, my friends, is what I call Christian Girl Math.
What Is Christian Girl Math?
It’s the internal calculator we start running the moment things don’t go our way:
“If I tithe + read 3 chapters + fast lunch = ✨Job Blessing✨”
“Skipped church twice = no parking spot + social anxiety for the week.”
It’s like we’ve created a spreadsheet where God keeps score:
“You asked for a miracle? That’ll be four weeks of church service volunteering, thanks.”
“You cried during worship? Okay, we’ll credit you two joy points.”
Let’s be clear: God is not your KPI dashboard. He’s not assigning you loyalty points. And He’s definitely not your emotionally unavailable boss.
The Spiral That Made It Click
I didn’t get a job I wanted. Not because I was unqualified — they just picked someone else. Fair.
But then someone said,
“Maybe you didn’t pray hard enough.”
“Did you tithe?”
“Did you declare Scripture over the interview?”
And suddenly I was asking myself:
“Wait… am I failing my faith quota?”
“Did I not earn it?”
“Have I not been… good enough?”
It felt like I was trying to redeem frequent flyer points with heaven. Like if I just worship harder, fast more, and don’t complain, I’ll get the upgrade.
Spoiler: That’s not grace. That’s Christian Girl Math..
Why Transactional Faith Will Break You
There’s a line from an article I once read that hits hard:
“When we expect God to constantly prove Himself to us…
we begin to treat Him like a tool, not a Savior.”
We fall into Christian unbelief — still believing God is God, but secretly demanding He “deliver.”
And when He doesn’t?
“Does He even love me?”
“Why are my non-Christian friends thriving?”
“What’s the point of all this?”
We lose sight of who God is… and start chasing what He can give us.
What the Bible Actually Says
Let’s wipe the math off the board:
“He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.”
— Titus 3:5
“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
— 2 Corinthians 12:9
“You are saved by grace through faith… not by works.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9
Faith is not a formula. You’re not building a resume for blessings. And you’re not less loved just because your life feels off-track.
☁️ The Final Fluff
God isn’t keeping a spreadsheet of your sins and Sunday attendance.
He’s not calculating your worth based on your prayer streak.
He’s not a vending machine — He’s your Father.
So next time someone tells you:
“Maybe you didn’t get the job because you didn’t fast enough…”
You can smile and say:
“Or maybe it wasn’t mine to begin with — and God doesn’t operate on Christian Girl Math.”
Amen? Amen. 🤍
